SEOUL DAYLIGHTING

An ongoing relationship with the Seoul City Mayor’s Office has involved RAAD Studio in several urban public spaces. Seoul is a city that is honeycombed by underground spaces, both from the Korean War and by infrastructure. Inspired by New York’s Lowline, RAAD Studio and RAAD Solar were tasked with using our proprietary technology to draw natural sunlight into these spaces to transform them into underground parks, filled with greenery and accessible to the community year round. RAAD has crafted five proposals for five spaces, with the intention of stippling downtown Seoul with this advanced new form of public space.
