SHENANDOAH HOUSE
Part of an enormous horse farm, Shenandoah House appears to “fold” out of the earth, with spaces terracing down to match the slope of the mountain. Twenty-foot-tall operable windows look out over sprawling meadows and erase the boundary between the house and the march of the seasons.
A thirty-foot-tall windowless library is hidden in the hillside, lit by a colossal skylight. Beneath the bedrooms is a secret underground heated lap pool, vaulted and reachable by concealed stair from the owner’s bedroom.
