PRIVATE HUDSON RIVER ISLAND HOUSE

Located just half an hour north of Manhattan, a large private island sits in the Hudson River, accessible by private bridge. A nineteenth century manor house, was updated by RAAD Studio into a home filled with light and air. A central stair volume doubles as a huge light well that draws natural sunlight down through the entire building. Various double height spaces are staggered throughout the house, and surgical openings to the exterior walls reinforce the house’s connection to its spectacular surroundings.
